Fresh from the success of their sell out Christmas show The Wizard of Oz, Ely’s CAT Theatre Company are now working towards their spring musical The Wedding Singer. Set to be performed at Ely College from 28th-30th May this romantic musical comedy is based on the 1998 smash hit movie of the same name (starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore) and is actually set in the 1980’s, a nostalgic decade for many…
With a score that pays loving homage to the pop songs of the 1980s, The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room.
Boasting an energetic cast of 25 this show is set to be a laugh-a-minute with high energy throughout. But for CAT it goes further than that. Director Amy Burrows said “This year, in true community style, we’ve teamed up with another local theatre group to optimize on talent and are collaborating with local businesses in Ely, including a local wedding photographer, to launch a big Facebook competition in April. And the show? Well let’s just say if I wasn’t directing I’d be in the audience, or better still, I’d be up there being part of the action!”
Tickets are on sale now from Burrows Bookshop, Ely (01353 669 759) or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/cately, and for a chance to win a pair of free tickets ‘Like’ CAT on Facebook (www.facebook.com/cattheatreco) and look out for competition news in April.
