Burwell Carnival 2019 – Free Family Fun Day!
So what’s in store for Carnival 2019 on Sat.15th June, Burwell Recreation Field! We’ve already chosen a parade theme, which is Transport through the Ages – Fact or Fiction! Think of it as depicting some element of ‘our world in motion’ of past, present or future! So those groups wanting to take part in our grand parade through Burwell, get your thinking caps on and let us know your choice, which we’ll publicise on social media. Who can challenge our two times wins 2nd Burwell Rainbows, who I’m sure from our presentation evening are out for a third title!
Those confirmed parading groups, with their choices, so far:
Burwell Early Learners – Rocket themed float
1st Burwell Rainbows – Broomsticks
1st Burwell Brownies – Traditional Christmas Transport (Santa’s Sleigh) = nice for June!
2nd Burwell Brownies – Push Bikes
Guides – Yellow Submarine
Rangers – UFO with aliens
Print centre – Space Travel
2nd Burwell Rainbows – Amelia Earhart’s Aeroplane
Burwell Tigers – HMS Tiger
So more imaginary than real so far… but all is good and let-rip with the design work!
We’re already taking on field stall bookings online: https://www.burwell-carnival.info/tradeapplication So if you’re a group, charity or trade stall, please complete online – thank you.
We are beginning to book a brilliant line up of entertainment for this year. The Smokehouse Blue Marching Jazz Band will be heading up our parade and then playing around the field during the afternoon, with local groups performing on/in front of our stage. Our fantastic magician from last year, JezO’s Events Ltd., will be performing his hilarious brand of magic again, which is not to be missed! In the evening we have two very local bands – The 55 Band – a young group with members from both Burwell & Bottisham and The Compressors – Burwell Carnival – a Burwell based band with a lively and varied set. Our headline band has yet to be confirmed but hopefully something to keep us dancing & singing till the close! If there are any Burwell clubs, classes or sports groups who would like to put on a display but haven’t been contacted please do get in touch and we will do our best to include you. But please remember that time is limited so once the slots are filled we will put you on the list for next year. Please contact: email@example.com
As a committee we’d like to thank Amber Farrar
for all her hard work & dedication over the last year as our secretary. However, this does leave us needing a replacement ASAP! It’s a role that does require attending our monthly meetings, taking minutes/collating information and distributing/uploading online. Another non-committee role required is to take on that of contacting our existing and new potential sponsors that advertise in our programme and on-site opportunities, which is a major part of our fundraising. If you fancy either/a combined role within an established village group that helps to benefit all participating groups, then we’d really appreciate the help right now, which otherwise puts an additional burden on our current committee members. Please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
As part of our additional fundraising for 2019, we successfully applied to be one of the three local groups that could potentially benefit from your 1% spend on Co-op products & services from our North St. & Ness Rd. Co-ops. If you aren’t already a Co-op member, please do sign-up, use your card and then nominate either Burwell Carnival, Burwell Tigers Football Club or Friends of Burwell Village College to benefit further and you get 5% back to spend as well. Everyone’s a winner, so please do take action if you haven’t done so already.
As we gear up for 2019, do please consider how you can help Burwell Carnival further, either as an individual or through your group participation, coming to join us or looking how you/your business can support our fundraising efforts.
