Taterhead Contest 2020

An online potato decorating competition for children under 11 years.
The Ely Potato Festival brings you Taterhead Contest 2020, with a closing date for entries of 12th October. We are on the lookout for the best decorated potato, as part of the Ely Harvest Festival celebrations. This year the event is entirely online, due to the influenza pandemic. It enhances an earlier competition held last year inside Ely Cathedral.
Select a large potato and decorate it with a face. Use paints, marker pens and small shaped pieces of material; in fact whatever media you wish. Playdough is useful to make the potato stand upright. Arms, legs and eyes may be added. Your character could be wearing a hat or cap. The outline shape of the potato should remain mainly visible, not hidden.
Any child within age range 0 to 10 years. Resident in UK and all countries abroad. Parent or Adult may make one entry for each child.
Give your potato a funny name (no more than 30 letters long).
Tell us child’s age and the county or region you live in (no need for any name or address). Take a photo of your potato.
Go to the Facebook page of Ely Potato Festival. Use the Facebook Messenger service to send us your entry. Look for a flash icon and blue banner “Send Message” located below the page header.
Example text:-

Closing date is Monday 12th October 2020 (at the end of Ely Harvest Festival).
All entries will be displayed for public view on the Facebook page, to showcase the effort the children have made. The sooner you enter, the sooner your entry will display.
The Mayor of the City of Ely will judge the photographs and the winner will be informed by email. A small prize valued approx £20 will be awarded and mailed.
