Fen Speak open mic ft. Caron Freeborn
***DOORS OPEN 7:45PM FOR 8:15PM START***
This month Caron Freeborn will be our guest poet. Caron is autistic, interested in details others discard. A sometime novelist who became obsessed with observational poetry, her first collection, Georges Perec is my hero, came out in 2015. In 2017, she was commissioned to produce a long performance piece, recently turned into a two-hander with neurodivergent poet-artist Harry Dell. She has since drifted onto the spoken word scene. In some ways a poet of place, she is finalising a collection about her old hometown of Basildon in Essex, with photographer Steve Armitage.
There’ll also be plenty of time for open mic performances of spoken word, poetry, and storytelling. Sign up in advance, or just turn up on the night.
Doors open at 7.45 for 8.15. Free entry, donations welcome on the night.
