On Saturday, (28th December) some of Ely Squadron’s younger cadets visted RAF Marham and the station’s heritage museum based in the RAF Station’s old Chapel building.
The history of RAF Marham spans the history of the Royal Air Force itself from World War One right through the 20th Century and into the 21st Century with the reformation of 617 Squadron and the arrival at Marham of the F35 Lightning.
The Ely Squadron cadets took part in a fact finding quiz before being given the full VIP guided tour.
From next month cadets from the Squadron will be volunteering at the Heritage Centre as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme voluntary work section.
The heritage centre is based just outside the station’s security zone on the public side of the fence and is open to the public every Tuesday and Wednesday from 0900-1600 as well as the last Saturday of every month.
The centre is run by serving and retired RAF Marham personnel entry is free and includes a cup of tea. 😊☕
