10is Academy begins LTA National Team Tennis Competition with Great Spirit

Saturday and Sunday saw the start of the LTA National Team Tennis Leagues for 10is Academy’s teams.

The 9 and Under match against Cambourne had to be postponed as the away team couldn’t get 4 players. Meanwhile the 12 and Under boys promoted to the 1st division welcomed several time champions Cambridge Lawn Tennis Club.

There was good local support which was rewarded by some strong tennis and exciting matches. It was a good effort by the young team but not to be on this occasion.

On Sunday the mens 2 team played against the Men 1 as both teams play in the second division. The Men 1 comfortably won the match, but head coach Sebastien Scaux was very pleased with the player’s performance from both teams: “I think the players should be proud of themselves. Today they have showed how much progress they’ve made over the past few months. They are playing a very exciting brand of tennis”.

Later on that day, the 14 and Under girls in division 2 were playing at Papworth TC. Captain Tia led by example winning her singles comfortably 6/2 6/1 while newcomer Laia showed why she is becoming a rising star winning her singles match 6/0 6/0.

Both girls then played doubles together only dropping 1 game in two sets.

This coming week the men 1 will be playing on Wednesday at home against Longstanton. The ladies 1 are away at Newmarket on Thursday.

On Saturday 4 teams are playing at home: 10 and Under against Cambridge Tennis Academy, 8 and Under against Cambourne LTC, Mixed against Papworth TC, Ladies 2 against Ely TC.

Finally on Sunday the Men 2 will be playing away at St Neots to end a very busy week.
