10is Academy Celebrating its 10 Weeks’ Anniversary with a Double Victory

On Wednesday, 10is Academy double header resulted in a win for the Women 1st and the Men 1st teams.

Both 10is Academy’s 1st teams picked up a win: the Women at home against Great Shelford and the Men away at Chatteris.

The Women team hit the court cheered on by a few supporters. Mother and daughter, Maria and Anna, started strongly, winning their first match 6/0 6/0. On court 2, Sam & Mutsuko worked well together but didn’t win some crucial points and lost their first match 2/6 3/6.

In the second round, Maria and Anna started aggressively and put the home team ahead with a 6/1 6/1 win.

Great Shelford hopes for a draw vanished when Sam and Mutsuko won their second match 6/3 6/4

After the match, team captain Sam said: “We worked well together, I think. We’re getting better at working out how to beat the opposition, of course there were errors but our confidence grew.” Sam added, “We were much more aggressive in the second set and this worked really well: we were able to control the match. Maria and Anna were again fabulous and their scores reflect this.”

The Men 1st picked up another win and remain undefeated with some impressive stats. The Ely based team started the day in 3rd position in the league and were away to 4th place, Chatteris.

1st pair Tom and Seb swiftly won their matches 6/2 6/0 and 6/3 6/1. 2nd pair Rhys and Michael also won both of their matches: after winning a tight first set 6/4 they took a comfortable 4/1 lead in the second set but had a slight drop of intensity giving Chatteris the opportunity to serve for the 2nd set.

Fortunately, they regrouped and took the next 3 games to give 10is Academy an overall 8 – 0 win.

The team is now second in the table with a match in hand; a win will take them to the top of the table.

10is Academy Men 1 managed to win all 95.8% of their sets (23-1) and 81.7% of the games (143-32).

The next match will be at home against Longstanton.
