Sebastien Scaux hailed the dizzying improvement of the 10is teams ahead of another derby match in Ely.
The 10is Academy head coach has been a driving force behind the growth of tennis in Ely, resulting in the creation of a new tennis club in September.
That new tennis club helps install tennis as one of the foremost sports in the Ely where an ATP, an ITF and a couple of county players can be found practicing.
The ladies played two matches in last two week – Ladies 1 registered a win against Newmarket (8-0) while the Ladies 2 defeated Ely TC (7-1).
The men saw similar results with a win midweek for the Men 1 at Longstanton (8-0) and the Men 2 on Sunday at St Neots (6-2).
“The improvement is unreal. I feel really proud about the players because the team has been built around players who were often overseen and are now shining.” said Scaux.
“There’s a feeling of excellence in the team and also inclusivity to those coming in. People want to be in the team, they aspire to come in and when they do they see that we’re ambitious but able to have a good time and encourage each other to achieve our goals.
“I’m really proud that if I do step away from the teams there are many young players who can easily take over and be very competitive. We also have many parents who have joined our beginner’s courses and are now competing in the first and second teams. It’s something really special.”
The 8 and Under team lost to Cambourne on Sunday 6-10 despite a great performance from the players who were playing their first competitive match.
The Men 1 will be playing Ely TC Wednesday evening. On Saturday in the National League the 9 and Under will go to Cambridge Tennis Academy, and on Sunday the Ladies 2 will travel to Meldreth.
