Thank you to our Volunteers!
“When you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.”
Registered Charity All In Sound runs an inclusive, fun, and friendly group each week called “Sing! Together” for those living with dementia, memory loss and their carers, in Ely.
The group started at the beginning of 2018, and has been meeting ever since, including some time on Zoom!
During a session in March, the group were delighted to say a special thank you to the team of Volunteers who enable the sessions to run each week. From making tea, and serving coffee, through to conversations and welcomes, the group couldn’t run without them.
Each Volunteer was presented with a special thank you note from the Chair of All In Sound, Kathryn, who thanked the volunteers as she spoke with the whole group before the singing began.
Founder and Director of All In Sound, (another!) Kathryn says “The volunteers play a vital role in keeping the group running, and I certainly couldn’t do it without them! New singers to the group are always welcome – no singing experience is needed, and each week we smile, laugh and sing! It is lovely to see carers and those living with dementia engaging in activities they can do together, as everyone can sing! People who come to our group report feelings of improved wellbeing, mental health and overall health, which is an amazing benefit to coming to a group such as this.”
The benefits of singing and music for those living with dementia has been greatly highlighted over recent years, and members of this group including the carers describe how it makes them feel; “We find the singing lifts our spirits and have made many friends in a similar situation through Sing! Together. It is good to meet up with them each week to sing, chat, laugh and generally have fun.”
