Another Hollywood blockbuster to be filmed in Ely

Filming on Hollywood blockbuster Assassin’s Creed is due to start at Ely Cathedral early next week, Spotted in Ely understands.
Film crews have already started transporting equipment and sealing off the area in preparation and there have been sightings of filmstar and producer Michael Fassbender reported in town.

A sign has gone up at the entrance to the cathedral, asking the crew to be respectful of its religious and historical nature, and for food not to be consumed inside, other than water in sealed containers.
They have also been asked to keep their voices and radio volumes down.

The cathedral will be closed to the public on Tuesday.
Due for release on December 21, Assassin’s Creed is an action adventure movie based on the hugely popular gaming franchise of the same name.
It stars Fassbender as 15th Century Spanish assassin Aguilar de Nerha and his present day descendant Callum Lynch, who must defeat the mighty Templars. Other stars include Oscar winner Marion Cotillard and legendary actor Jeremy Irons.
The film is directed by Justin Kurzel, distributed by 20th Century Fox, and produced by Ubisoft Motion Pictures and Frank Marshall.
The production title for the film Time Out of Mind (TOOM), named after TOOM Productions Ltd. Filming is due to take place next week.

Ely Cathedral is fast gaining a reputation as a filming location, with numerous TV productions and movies being filmed there in recent years, including The Crown, The King’s Speech, MacBeth and Jupiter Ascending.
Assassin’s Creed is set to be the first installment in a trilogy – so we may see more of Fassbender and his team in Ely!
