Another Three Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards Presented to Ely Air Cadets.

Congratulations to Corporal Jake Earl-Clarke, Staff Cadet Ana Warr-Delgado , and Leading Cadet Danielle Doblados, who received their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award Certificates and Badges last night.

Apart from their expedition section, these awards were worked on individually at home throughout lockdown with the cadets getting imaginative on the differing ways they chose to complete their Skills/Interests Section, Voluntary Work Section, and Physical Recreation Sections. For example, Cadet Dobaldos helped vital medical research by volunteering to assist doctors and research scientists online in the “Zooniverse”.

Zooniverse has been chosen by a number of Ely’s Air Cadets as a way to continue to volunteer but from the safety of their homes during lockdown.

Zooniverse gives people of all ages and backgrounds around the world the chance to participate in real research with over 50 active online citizen supported science projects. Working with 1.6 million registered users around the world to contribute to research projects led by hundreds of researchers.

The cadets also received their beautifully crafted Bronze metal DofE lapel badges, which they can wear at any time, such as at school or college or at work. The cadets are already busy working towards their Silver Awards with Cadet Warr-Delgado working on her Gold Award.

Congratulations to you all on your progression within the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
