Ariyaana Aims High

One of Ely’s junior Air Cadets has her sights set on an office with a view, 43,000 feet to be precise.

First Class Cadet Ariyaana Khanom joined 1094 (City of Ely) Squadron Air Cadets in March of 2023 and she hasnt let the grass grow under her feet.

Ariyaana (seen here knitting poppies for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day) may only have 12 months service, but she has already secured a place on The Fantasy Wings National 10 month (1 weekend a month) mentorship programme organised by all the majpr UK airlines to encourage young people from underrepresented communities to consider a carreer in Aviation.

Fantasy Wings, goal is to give Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people and Women a platform to enter and excel in the Aviation industry or become commercial airline pilots through expert-led workshops, conferences, mentoring and real flight training.

1st Class Cadet Ariyaana Khanom was selected as one of fifty candidates from thousands of applicants up and down the country and at the end of this inspirational journey, the top three candidates will be offered a fully paid scholarship to attain their Private Pilot’s Licence.

Congratulations Ariyaana for having the courage and confidence to aim high for your dream of becoming an Airline Pilot. We are all behind you and wish you all the luck in the world with your endeavours.
