Babylon ARTS Brings the Big Screen Back!

Babylon Cinema at The Maltings will reopen and welcome back the public from Thursday 20th May with an exciting programme of family favourites, independent films, 2021 award winners and nominees, and theatre-on-screen experiences.

The cinema, which has been closed to the public since March 2020 due to Covid-19, will reopen with enhanced safety and hygiene procedures in place for a safe and enjoyable movie-going experience.

Babylon ARTSโ€™ chief executive, Claire Somerville said, โ€œAfter this long lockdown, weโ€™re excited to welcome back audiences and to give them a chance to escape into film and for that big screen, communal experience thatโ€™s so magical about cinema.

โ€œItโ€™s been quite a journey for everyone and as part of the re-launch weโ€™ve worked with Peterborough Films to produce a cinematic film trailer for our cinema, which we think captures the build-up of excitement weโ€™re feeling about getting the doors open again. This is on our YouTube Channel and website.โ€

The new socially distanced โ€˜micro-cabaret-styleโ€™ seating arrangement can be viewed on a 360ยฐ degree virtual tour, which means customers can see exactly where their table is, before booking their seats. The virtual tour is available at: http://www.babylonarts.org.uk.

Claire adds โ€œWhatโ€™s also special about our independent cinema is that audience members can order their drinks from the bar to enjoy at their tables, whilst watching the film.โ€
