On Saturday 13th December, the Fordham bellringers rang a quarter peal of Plain Bob Doubles—around 45 minutes of non-stop ringing—to mark a truly special occasion. The ringing celebrated the 200th birthday of the No. 7 bell, which was cast in 1825 by William Dobson of Downham Market.
The quarter peal also marked an impressive personal milestone for Chris, who rang his 650th quarter peal, and celebrated his 65th year since learning to ring.
If you’re interested in having a go at this very English hobby of bellringing—which is surprisingly addictive and great fun—please do get in touch at strethamrec@elyda.org.uk and we would be very happy to organise it. We have a dedicated training centre where we teach the art by qualified instructors. You can also follow one of our learners and her son on Instagram page: dizzydollylou
