Beynur Apprentice Laura Scoops 2 Awards in 2 Years

She may only be 23 years old but a life long local Laura Weller is taking the Tattoo industry by storm by winning not one but 2 awards within the last 14 months.

It was a by chance encounter over the internet that salon owner Beynur Kaptan saw then fine art student Laura’s work and immediately asked her to come and work for him. She had never thought about working in the Tattoo industry before but realised she had more chance as tattooist than using any fine art degree and jumped in feet first.

Despite confessing to not liking needles she has taken to her work and was quick to enter into nationally recognise competitions against veteran tattoo artists.

Last year in London she won “The Peoples Choice Award” at the Great British Tattoo Show and more recently “Best Black Work Award” at Cambridge’s First International Convention.

She will continue to enter more competitions and she believes winning the awards helps the salon that brings in hundreds of people from all over the UK every year.
