Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards for Ely Squadron Cadets

Three new Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards were presented on Monday night at Ely Squadron.

Sergeant Scarlet Minchin, Leading Cadet Rufus Hillier and Cadet Joe Bain all received their badges on Mondays parade night.

Cadet’s Hillier and Bain achieved their awards with their school but just like Sergeant Minchin, they get to display their Bronze DofE badges on their uniforms with pride.

All three cadets have already started working towards their Silver Awards following in the footsteps of four of the Squadron’s Senior Cadets who will be attending a Buckingham Palace Garden Party this summer.

Having completed their Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE Awards on the Squadron the four ex- cadets – Cadet Warrant Officer Rory Donoghue and Sergeant’s Joe Harris, Emily Pieters and Abigail Stubbs were all meant to attend a Palace Garden Party in the Summer of 2020. Unfortunately the Covid lockdown put a huge pause on thier plans and all four have since “aged out” going on to University.

All four will meet up again soon with their families in London to celebrate their determination in achieving all three Duke of Edinburgh Awards and receive their Gold Awards together.

Congratulations to our latest Bronze Award Holders and good luck on your journey to The Palace.
