Excellent news for the East Cambs Youth Consultation Panel today. Suzy Kay, Grant Programme Manager for the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation has informed us that our application for £1753 to support the purchase of social media technology has been successful!
The money will be invested in the provision of new technology for the group – including a desktop computer, mobile camera equipment and creative media software. The cash will also fund the provision of high speed broadband to ensure the security of the police information network.
The Panel will be meeting again next week on the 7th February, and will be meeting the Chief Constable at Police Headquarters on the 16th February.
We are all particularly grateful to the PCC, Jason Ablewhite who has given his full support to this bid, and for his on going efforts to include young people in his priorities for policing Cambridgeshire.
Sergeant Phil Priestley has said:
“The Youth Consultation Panel has been running in East Cambs for seven months now. This money will help us to share information coming out of the group, and reach out for a broader scale of involvement.
The Panel will be running their own social media channels and will be communicating messages that are intended to invite more people into key conversations.
We can expect to see the acquisition of technology over February, and in March we hope to see the launch of a new source of information that will empower young people throughout the district.”
The group is a fully inclusive, equal opportunities organisation which is intended to empower the young people of East Cambridgeshire to hold their local police to account for how decisions effect their community.
