Captain Max Sets Standard for 10is Academy with Derby Double Win

10is Academy Men 2’s captain Max, picked up where he left off last year with another solid performance against Ely TC 4

Before the Christmas break, Max led his team to a 7-1 win in the derby against Ely TC 3 in the Cambs league. After a surprising loss against Milton, the win boosted Max’s team chances for promotion.

This Sunday, Max once again led by example: with his partner Jordan, he won his 4 sets, only dropping 8 games overall. Mish and the ever-improving Ed also won 4 sets to give 10is Academy 2 a solid 8-0 win.

With a double over the local rivals completed and 1 match to play, 10is Academy 2 are now leading the league on sets difference. Ely TC 3 on the same number of points ready to ambush their rivals.

Earlier that day, the 10is Academy 14U Boys welcomed Cambourne LTC in the Winter National League Division 1. Ely’s number 1 player Alex, had a tough match: after losing the first set 2-4 he managed to regroup to win the second set 4-2. In the third set tiebreak, Alex was 2-8 down but fought hard to win the next 8 points to take the win 10/8

10is Academy’s number 2 Isaac had an easy win: 4-0 4-1

Both players combined in the doubles to take a flowless win: 4-0 4-0

Next match the Men 2 will welcome Newmarket for their last match of the winter season.
