Hundreds of students had their eyes opened to a variety of careers during a special event at Ely College today.
The college hosted its annual careers event, bringing together year five students from six different primary schools and year eight secondary students.
Littleport Community Primary School, Millfield School, Downham Feoffees Primary Academy, the Lantern Community School, St Mary’s C of E Junior School and St John’s School all took part.
Throughout the day, business representatives talked about different roles within their organisations in a bid to encourage young people to think about their career choices and the steps required to fulfil their goals.
Mayor of Ely Richard Hobbs also attended the event, open to schools within the Ely Schools Partnership.
Partnership co-ordinator Janice Townsend said: “It is so important that young people are made aware of possible career paths when they are younger so they can take the right steps to achieving their goals as they progress through their education. Thank you to Ely College for offering to host the event again this year.”
College principal Richard Spencer said: “As part of CMAT (Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust), we firmly believe in providing a high quality well-rounded education that means our students are offered wider opportunities encouraging them to have high aspirations in the future.”
