Celebration of Business 2015 Speakers

ECBGStephen Green, Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint, the former Minister of State for Trade and Investment and former Chairman of HSBC, and Dame Julia Cleverdon, Vice President of Business in the Community, to speak at CELEBRATION OF BUSINESS 2015 in Ely Cathedral.
Ely Cathedral Business Group has announced that Lord Green and Dame Julia Cleverdon will be the keynote speakers at the Celebration of Business Reception on Thursday 21st May.
This will be the 4th annual CELEBRATION OF BUSINESS to be held in Ely Cathedral which takes place from Friday 15th May to Thursday 21st May.  The event is centred around a thriving exhibition involving over 100 businesses and organisations, reflecting the broad diversity of business activity in the east of England.
In pursuit of ECBG’s aims to encourage the relationship between Businesses and the wider community, companies are invited to promote themselves free of charge, in the awe inspiring environment of Ely Cathedral. Businesses of all sizes from Sole Trader through to Multi-National rub shoulders for a week and Business people have the opportunity to meet and to learn from each other.
ECBG Chairman, local businessman Tom Green explains: “The motivation for ECBG springs from the Group’s strong belief in the positive contribution that healthy sustainable business can make to our community, and our desire to celebrate and encourage both.  Too often the Church is seen as ‘anti-business’, and indeed we are right to criticise the greed and recklessness which has led to the financial crisis, however good business is the means by which we create wealth and manage sustainable economic growth in our communities, making it possible, in spite of the inevitable peaks and troughs of the economic cycle, to invest more in welfare and public services including health and education.
It is important that the Church, and especially our Cathedral engages with this subject which is so much at the centre of our lives.”
All are welcome to this event, and admission is free. Anyone intending to come is asked to register online at www.elycathedralbusinessgroup.org
