[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Local property investors & management company Rannerlow have announced they are submitting new plans to change the look of the Market Place by converting the old 60’s style building into a modern feel for Ely. The company own the block and have been looking at ways to improve the look of the out-dated building for the last couple of years.
Reporting on their website, “This project has always been very personal to the company as we like so many have fallen in love with Ely and understand the sensitive nature of the position of the building, and its importance to the people”.
The plans include 12 new apartments while keeping the retail sector on the lower section.
This will be the second attempt to change the facade of this block. The first being in 2015 when local residents showed concern over the look of the original plans.
Eric Gee is the Technical Illustrator behind the proposed new building designs; he trained as a technical illustrator at Marshals in Cambridge, Eric has been working in Ely for 30 + years and has been behind many of the prestigious housing projects built in the centre of the City. Now based in Bury St Edmund and nearing retirement Eric is quoted as saying he is pleased be involved in this project and looks forward to the day the designs become a reality.
Rannerlow Ltd will hold a public consultation on the 25th & 27th February 2016 between 12 noon and 2:30pm at The Cathedral Centre in Ely.
