Charity “overwhelmed” by generosity to children’s Christmas gift appeal

A charity supporting struggling families has been “overwhelmed” by people’s kindness towards local children in need in the run up to Christmas.

Beauty salon Pure Ely collected donations of children’s gifts before Christmas on behalf of Home-Start Cambridgeshire, which supports hundreds of families each year.

The presents were then handed out to youngsters by Father Christmas during a party hosted free of charge by Treetops soft play.
Maria Isaacs, of Home-Start Cambridgeshire, said the charity had been “overwhelmed by the response to the gift drop at Pure Ely”.
She thanked everyone who had donated gifts and helped spread Christmas cheer to families who may have found last year difficult.

The UK’s leading family support charity, Home-Start helps families deal with issues as diverse as isolation, postnatal illness, multiple births, disability and bereavement, providing practical and emotional assistance.

Home-Start helps about 20 families across East Cambridgeshire and is constantly on the hunt for more volunteers.
