Benefit for St Peter-in-Ely Church
Ely Collegium, who are fast becoming known as one of the finest chamber choirs in
the Cambridgeshire area, are singing a festive programme of Christmas music at St
Peter-in-Ely, Broad Street.
The concert will include popular items such as The Holly and the Ivy, O Holy Night,
Carol of the Bells, Coventry Carol, and In Dulci Jubilo, plus sing-along carols such
as Hark the Herald Angels, Silent Night, God Rest Ye, Merry Gentleman and O
Come, All Ye Faithful. Music Director Dr. Susannah Self will contribute her own
composition Gaudete plus a new Christmas anthem, Hushed Was The Night.
Selfmade Music, based in Ely and run by residents Susannah Self and Michael
Christie, has organised the concert. They are well-known in the area for
performances of large-scale choral works in the Lady Chapel, which have helped to
raise money for good causes such as the RNLI and Sands, the charity for bereaved
parents. Entry is free, with a retiring collection.
