Welney and it’s annual tradition of flooding has started again this year. The Environment Agency has now officially closed the barriers however has we saw locals are still able to get through as only part of the road is covered but the flow is fast. Police and EA Staff are stopping people from doing so when able.
It is advised that no one uses the road at this time by the EA.
Typical river range from Welney is between 0.4 metres and 2.4 metres but currently is around the 2.57 metre mark.
The highest river level recorded at this location is 4.13 metres and the river level reached 3.88 metres in December 2012.
