Community groups are being encouraged to apply for grants of up to £1000, offered by East Cambridgeshire District Council.
The groups can spend the money on new or existing projects designed to improve the quality of life for residents.
Successful applicants in the last round of grants included Ely Folk Festival to enhance accessible facilities for visitors to the 2024 festival; Stretham Youth Centre for their Activ8 social club which offers life skills development and getting active through sport and recreation for young adults with additional needs; and Blue Smile in Soham who run arts-based therapy for children, helping them to overcome mental health challenges.
Councillor Julia Huffer, Chair of the Operational Services Committee, said: “This grant enables community groups in East Cambs to offer support, services and ensure everyone feels included in their activities.
“Receiving this grant can be the extra boost they need to ensure the success of their projects or launch an exciting new initiative. We would encourage community groups to apply to the fund for their projects or events.”
The East Cambridgeshire Community Fund will be open to applications between 23 May and 4 July 2025.
Applying for this grant is simple. Information about the grant including eligibility criteria and application guidance can be found on the council’s website https://eastcambs.gov.uk/community-safety-and-wellbeing/grants-and-community-projects/community-fund
