Community take over Ely Library for afternoon of free, cultural fun

Ever wanted to play a ukulele, learn quilting, or have a go at coding and robotics?

Perhaps friendship bracelets, the cosmos or weaving are more your cuppa char?

These are just some of the fun activities available at Ely Library’s #FunPalaces extravaganza next week – and the best part of it is that it’s totally free!
On Saturday, October 7, the library will be handed over to the community, with artists, scientists and makers sharing their skills as part of a worldwide campaign for community culture.
Ely Makers, Cambridge Science Centre, Rocking Ukukeles of Ely, Timebank Littleport & Ely and Everyone Health are some of the community groups that have already confirmed their attendance at what organisers hope will be a “fun, engaging and free” activities for everyone to enjoy.

On the same day #FunPalaces events will also take place in Wisbech, Huntingdon, St Neots and Arbury Library in Cambridge.
Ely Library is looking for more residents to share their skills, so if you have a great idea you’d like to share, talk to a member of staff, call 07795 302 393 or email elyreferral@cambridgeshire.gov.uk
#FunPalaces takes place from 12pm to 4pm at Ely Library.
