COSMOS Roadshow, powered by Cambridge Science Centre, is coming to Ely Library to deliver a week of amazing interactive science this Easter holiday that you really need to come and see.
Cambridge Science Centre has teamed up with the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Enterprise Partnership (GCGP LEP) to provide the families of Ely with a week of fantastic, hands-on science through a COSMOS Roadshow this Easter.
The COSMOS Roadshow team will be coming to Ely Library, located on 6, the Cloisters with a new exhibition all about the senses. The pop-up exhibition will include amazing hands-on exhibits, along with drop-in activities to help children, young people and their families discover more about the 5 senses and how the human body uses them.
COSMOS Roadshow is dedicated to opening up a world of possibility in communities across East Anglia, engaging people of all ages with hands-on experiences of science, technology, engineering and maths – known as STEM. According to the ASPIRES report from King’s College London, just 15% of young people aspire to be scientists. However studies show that preconceptions of what STEM may involve can deter young people from entering further education in these fields. Cambridge Science Centre is committed to showing families that STEM provides a platform for children to use their imaginations to discover new innovations.
Helen Slaski, CEO of the Cambridge Science Centre, said: “We’re thrilled to continue our work in Ely. After the success of our past visits with space themed activities, we are excited to be bringing another facet of science for the community to discover. We are passionate about making STEM accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds; encouraging creativity, investigation and discovery. In Ely we are combining the best of our previous exhibitions with fantastic hands-on activities, sparking imaginations and inspiring young minds.”
Laura Welham-Halstead, Head of Communications & Connectivity at the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP, added: “The COSMOS Roadshow is a must attend event for local families. Their engaging and hands-on exhibits really bring science, technology, engineering and maths skills to life in a fun and entertaining way.”
