Since 2005, the Big Lottery Fund and ITV have given the public a say in awarding more than £30 million of National Lottery funding to 600 Good Causes across the UK.
This year Little Miracles Cambridge, Ely & Newmarket (CEN) has the opportunity to win £50,000 to help us continue the work we are doing to support families in the area that have children with autism, additional needs, learning difficulties and disabilities but we need your help to do so. Alongside physical and emotional support for the families we also provide dedicated weekly sessions and trips to the leading local and UK venues.
Little Miracles CEN is absolutely delighted to announce that we have made it to the final of “The Peoples Projects” with the opportunity to win £50,000 to help us continue to develop and provide support to hundreds of families in the area that really need it. To help us is simple, cast an online vote for our cause.
Voting opens on Monday 29th February 2016 at 9am and closes at 12pm on Sunday 13th March 2016 , between now and then we need to generate as many votes as possible. If you are able to vote for us and make family, friends and colleagues aware of our efforts during this time frame by sharing our link in the competition across social media and encouraging them to vote too we would be eternally grateful.
On Thursday March 3rd ITV regional news between 6pm and 630pm will be broadcasting our profile in the competition so we hope you also get the chance to tune in and see the work that we are doing. Should be fortunate enough to win the competition the funding will go towards expanding the services that we already provide at our base in Ely Community Centre. These will be in the form of;
- Creating an adaptive playarea and sensory garden.
- The creation of a children’s sensory softplay area for use at our sessions.
- Improving our studio and technology support for our members.
- Allowing us to continue our sessions in the community and provide more of them.
Justin Heron, Operations Manager for Little Miracles CEN said, “We have been really lucky and humbled to date to see simply amazing support from the local community, business, funders and of course our members for the services we provide. 2014 saw us grow an unbelievable 85% due to the demand in the area for the support that we offer and in view of this demand we undertook an ambitious project and moved to our present base in Ely 8 months ago to help even more people. It has been brilliant to see the project really well received across the area with so many people believing in the work that we do and getting involved to help, hundreds of families are also seeing the physical benefits with their children and really enjoying the sessions. Since our move we have seen a 180% uptake in our sessions and growth by a further 300% which is utterly staggering.
We really hope that the community can continue to help us now as they have done and get behind voting for Little Miracles to help us continue our work and expand it further, The demand in the area for what we do is always growing as medical awareness becomes stronger but sadly budgets in our sector continue to be cut making it harder and harder. We hope that the support continues both with the competition vote and beyond as it makes a very real difference to peoples lives.”
