The new McDonalds at the almost built Leisure Village in Ely is set to open in January of next year with promises to create over 100 new jobs and even more when the licence is granted for 24 hour opening.
The leisure village which sees a new Cinema complex for Ely is now expected to be fully opened from March 2017 but McDonalds franchisee Matt Jarrett is determined that his business will be open before any other.
The company behind the franchise, MPJ Enterprises Ltd who also has several other McDonalds throughout the Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire started recruiting last month and is looking out for key individuals to train through their fast track management program. These people will have the “Vital Ingredients” which include Value & Respect, Make It Special and Friendly & Fast qualities. Most of all the company look for people who enjoy what they do.
As well as these key people they need crew members to work kitchen, till, drive thru and also Customer Care (dining area) who must have excellent people skills. Maintenance to do outdoor gardening, cleaning, litter patrols and general building maintenance and then delivery people able to help with stock rotation and order deliveries. All in all about 120-140 personnel in total.
McDonalds is a company that likes to train from within and no experience is necessary. All they require is that a person has already left school and have a strong work ethic. Pay is in line with Government guidelines.
The building at the Ely site came quite literally on the back of a lorry and built like Lego within 48 hours. Work has now begun on the inside of the building and fitting of all equipment is due to start very soon.
