Ely Air Cadets out in the Community at Aquafest

On Sunday, 1094 Ely Squadron were back out in the community for the second week in a row.

This week the Squadron’s Civilian Committee were fund raising to support the cadets at Ely Aquafest by raising a fantastic £446.00 on the Tombola tables full of prizes donated by the Cadet’s parents.

The cadets were extremely enthusiastic in their fundraising by selling 272 raffle tickets for some fabulous prizes donated by local businesses worth over £1,000.

Well done to all the cadets who helped today and had a great time at the river festival and a very big thank you to all the adult helpers from the Civilian Committee and the Squadron Staff who gave up their time today to help run the stall.

Here is a message from Alastair Ure Reid, Chairman of the Squadron’s Civilian Committee to the cadets, “My Sincere thanks to everyone today, making the Aquafest such a successful event in both fundraising terms and raising the profile of the Squadron. All the Civilian Committee members who were there, were very impressed by the organisation and enthusiasm displayed by the cadets, a very special thank you to you all.”

As well as fundraising, we also cheered on two of our cadets who took part in the annual Aquafest Raft Race as members of their rowing club.

Isle of Ely Rowing Club won the most spectacular raft trophy and two Ely Air cadets were part of the four person crew, Cdt Barrett and Cdt Marygold. The two other crew members were their freinds Marcus Elliot and Josh Le Grezley.

What a great fun day with the cadets representing the Air Training Corps so well and speaking with many young people who approached them asking about the Air Cadets and #whatwedo

We have been inspired to build our own raft for next year’s Aquafest.
