The whole Squadron would like to send a huge thank you to Waitrose and their lovely customers who allowed our cadets to help them pack their Christmas shopping bags in Ely today.
Eighteen of our cadets worked in two hour shifts packing the customers Christmas food shopping supported by our Commanding Officer and three of our Civilian Committee members.
The cadets really enjoyed helping Ely’s shoppers , chatting to them and helping the checkout staff who praised the cadets for their politeness, and “professional packing”. The customers were extremely positive about the cadets and they generously made donations to the Squadron using the collection buckets that Waitrose kindly allowed the Squadron to position on the checkouts.
Thank you to Waitrose Community Matters department, we look forward to helping out again in the future and the Waitrose customer donations will go towards yhe Squadrons welfare funs which is there to help cadets who may need financial assistance towards items such as shoes to wear in uniform and boots or waterproofs to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
With 18 cadets helping in 2 hour shifts from 10am to 4pm at the 3 checkouts at Ely Waitrose, how much do you think the people of Ely put in the collection buckets for our Squadron today? Answers in the comments, on our Facebook page8, we will publish the amount later but its not for public dissemination?
