Ely Cadets Welcome New Mayor

On Monday evening Ely welcomed its new Mayor at the Mayor Making Ceremony at The Maltings on Ely’s Riverside.

Ely Squadron’s OC was invited to attend the ceremony where Councillor Chris Phillips was appointed as Mayor and the Squadron offered to provide a gaurd of honour consisting of a third of the Squadron’s Cadets.

Both the new Mayor and new Deputy Mayor, Councillor Rob Pitt, mentioned Ely’s wealth of youth organisations in their acceotance speeches and the active part they play in Ely’s wonderful community spirit. The Squadron looks forward to a visit to our refurbished headquarters by both the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank retiring Mayor Councillor Richard Morgan for his service to the City and whom the Squadron’s cadets have had the pleasure of meeting at so many community events over the past year in Ely.

Pictured below is Ely’s new Mayor The Worrshipful Chris Phillips with Our Squadron OC, and the gaurd of honour commanded by Sergeant Dennett-Cook RAFAC who welcomed the guests as they arrived this evening along with Civilian Committee member Mrs Claire Constable.
