Ely City WI have been awarded the prestigious title of ‘most increased membership over the past year’.
This is a great achievement and Federation Officers were delighted to present the Silver Salver at the November AGM. President Sheila Willson said “I am delighted that we have received this award. Our WI is continuously growing, so much so, we are having to move venue. With a rich and varied programme, we are always delighted to welcome new members”.
With over fifty members there does not seem to be any slowing down. One member commented “I am relatively new to Ely City WI but I am so glad I joined. I have been able to make new friends, try new things and be a part of many community events”.
Plans are in motion for a big celebration in 2024. 40 years of Ely City WI. “This is going to be another busy year,” said Sheila. “Our plans to mark the occasion are under way and we would love to have more members. If we can grow by twenty-five percent in just one year, then with a bigger venue and varied programme we can expand even further!”.
Ely City WI is open to women over the age of 18 and has members from all walks of life. As a member you will have access to 11 main meetings a year, all of the sub-groups, our private social media groups and 8 copies of the WI magazine ‘WI Life’ per year.
Our last meeting of 2023 will be at 7.30pm at The Old Dispensary, St Mary’s Street, Ely, CB7 4ER on Monday 11th December. If you would like to start coming along as a visitor to one or two of our meetings to see what we’re all about then we would love to meet you. Just drop us a line and we will make sure one of our many friendly faces is ready to greet you!
From January 2024 we will be moving location to Bishop Laney Sixth Form, Downham Road, CB6 2SH and we will meet at 7.00pm.
