Ely College Launches its First Audiobook

Ely College staff have been working together to create their first school audiobook, now available via the College YouTube channel!

Head of English, Heather Clark-Hope explained the reasons why the staff wanted to work together to create the book: ‘After the tough year the students have had, dealing with everything that has come with the pandemic, we wanted to give the students their own audiobook to enjoy during the summer term and over the holidays.  We chose the novel ‘Treasure Island’ by Robert Louis Stevenson.’

‘Year 9 students particularly enjoyed reading some extracts from this novel in their Victorian Genre module earlier in the year and wanted to hear more from this swashbuckling adventure.  All the staff involved have enjoyed reading this classic text.’

Teachers from different departments around the school have worked together to record episodes of the audiobook. In fact, so many staff have volunteered to read for the students that the college’s second audiobook ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ by Sir Arthur Conon Doyle is already in production for the new academic year.

The audiobook is available to listen via Ely College’s YouTube channel via this link: Ely College Audio Book – Treasure Island. Chapters 1 – 3 – YouTube
