Ely Roller Skating Club spent a busy, hot weekend in Herne Bay at Maidstone Open.
The 24 Skaters competed in free, figures, dance and free dance events. It was a tough competition and they came away with silver medals for Chloe Moore, Karis Houghton and Bryony Figgins and bronze for Teegan Bowen, Alex Witziers, Linayah Jackson, Bryony Figgins and Chantel Lyon. As well as the club winning the Visitors Cup, awarded to the best performing club of the weekend.
The skaters spend roughly 10hours a week training at Littleport and Ely Leisure Centres, supported by their excellent coach Brian Paddington. They train in all three disciplines (Figures, Free and Dance) and often spend weekends travelling around the country to compete.
Since the beginning of the year they have competed at National and Championship competitions. They have already accumulated 7 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze medals.
