The city community has shown such generosity in support of Ely’s Christmas Toy Bank for the past three years that organisers hope to help even more families finding it hard to afford presents for their children this year.
“We want was to bring the joy of Christmas to as many children in need as possible,” said former city councillor Peter Harris who came up with the idea back in 2022 and has been delighted to see how it has grown.
Collection boxes for new or ‘good as new’ gifts suitable for children up 15 years will be at City Cycle Centre, Centre E, Ely Tool Hire, Ely Tyre Services, Fresh fitness studio in Broad Street, Premier Travel and Waitrose until Tuesday 9 December.
The Toy Bank will be open to anyone in need at St Mary’s Church on Friday 12 December from 3.30-5.30pm and Saturday 13 December 10am-1pm.
