As part of the BBC Civilisations Festival, the Stained Glass Museum and Ely Library have joined forces to
host some events for both children and adults
Design & make a Comic Strip
The first joint event is Saturday 3rd March, 1pm – 3pm. Amy Glover, Learning Officer at the Stained Glass
Museum will run the event for children at Ely Library, to design and create their own comic strip.
Inspired by the Prodigal Son window from the Museum’s collections, and using their own imaginations,
children will re-tell the famous parable, using graphic art, for a modern audience. Children at the event
will also have the chance to share their story-telling creations with BBC Look East who shall be filming at
the event! £2 per participant, under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Tickets available
from Ely Library – don’t miss out!
Extra Engage
The second joint event with Ely Library will be held Tuesday 6th March, 2pm – 3.30pm. The Stained Glass
Museum will be speaking at an Extra Engage hosted by Ely Library, discussing the art form of stained
glass, and how it has evolved with modern civilisation as well as the work of the Museum itself. There
will also be a discussion about what civilisation means today. Tickets are available for £3 at the Library.
Local History Fayre
Finally, on Saturday 17th March, Ely Library is hosting a Local History Fayre. Local museums, history and
heritage groups from the local community will be there showcasing their knowledge and engaging
visitors with their work, through fun and interactive displays and information. All are invited! 9.30am –
12noon, this is a free event. Dig deep, get involved and take part in your heritage!
