The Ely Cathedral Business Group committee are thrilled to announce that the Everest Summiteer Ricky Munday will be delivering the keynote speech at the inaugural Celebration of Business dinner in Ely Cathedral’s Lady Chapel on Thursday 16 May 2019.
Ricky Munday is an inspirational speaker, international expedition leader, Red Cross delegate and Chartered Accountant. To overcome redundancy, in 2004 he completed the toughest footrace on earth – the 150-mile Marathon des Sables. With a decade of expedition experience behind him, he reached the highest point on earth – the summit of Mount Everest – on 18th May 2018. He’s since visited over seventy schools and businesses across the UK to deliver inspirational talks to over 14,000 people. He has delivered talks on perseverance, developing resilience, goal-setting and overcoming adversity at many of the UK’s leading independent schools and corporations.
A qualified Mountain Leader and Polar Ambassador who grew up on a council estate, Ricky founded Inspire Alpine as a social enterprise to help close the attainment gap that exists between disadvantaged young people and their peers.
As a Chartered Accountant, Ricky is a resilient and highly motivated corporate services leader with an unusual breadth of experience transforming large, multidisciplinary and multicultural support functions in complex and insecure environments across the public, private and third sectors, and completed field missions in post-disaster scenarios in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.
First held in 2012 this annual Celebration of Business in Ely Cathedral has grown to be one of the region’s biggest and grandest business exhibitions. Over 100 different organisations have a stand for the day, giving representation to a diverse range of business sectors and ranging from small local enterprises to large national and international companies. For the first-time limited market plots on the Cathedral’s adjacent Cross Green will also be available to book. This fantastic networking opportunity is available to all for free of charge thanks to the generosity of our sponsors.
We have lined up two fantastic seminars also free to attend. Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce will be hosting their popular Grow Your Business breakfast brunch workshop designed to encourage us to think about our business’s growth, employee’s development and to consider the skills required to attract talent for the long term. After lunch Russell Beck, Head of Consulting for Impellam Group (the largest recruitment company you’ve never heard of) will deliver his acclaimed seminar The Generation Game. Pulling on the latest research and background information, this seminar explores the differences between generations and looks at the different behavioural traits of each, together with the political, cultural and technological factors that impacted each, we will consider where their strengths lie, the respective value propositions to drive motivation and potential areas of inter-generational conflict.
Tickets for all of the day’s events are available to book now from the Ely Cathedral Box Office www.elycathedral.org/events/celebration-of-business or Tel: 01353 660459. Dinner tickets are priced at an accessible £25 per head and include a drinks reception and a locally sourced three course meal provided by the Almonry Restaurant.
