An Ely mum is delighted that her stolen trike has been recovered by police – and thanks Spotted in Ely followers for helping to spread the word about its disappearance.
On Monday morning (May 16) Heather Brooks was devastated to discover that her unique tricycle had been snatched from her garden in the Cambridge Road area.
But hours later, police had contacted Heather to inform her that the trike had been found.
Heather and husband Sammy had built the adult trike themselves, with the help of sons Jasper, five and Reuben, one. They had recently painted it purple and Jasper was “so excited” to be out and about in it.
Neither Heather nor Sammy drive, and the bike had been the family’s main mode of school transportation, as it is too far for the kids to walk to Isle of Ely School, on the other side of the city.
Heather said: “I didn’t know how to get Jasper to school. We had to get a taxi.”
A picture of the bike was posted on Facebook on Monday, and shared numerous times, including 21 times by Spotted in Ely followers.
“Thank you so much.”
A man is helping police with their inquiries.
In a separate incident a red Voodoo Hoodoo 2012 bicycle was reported stolen from Soham Road, Stuntney, on Sunday (May 15).
