A flying start for Ely Air Cadets as we all start to move out of lockdown and return to Cadet Activities.
Corporal Isabelle Murfitt applied to The Air Pilots Guild in her hopes to be awarded a Scholarship to become a qualified glider pilot. Despite stiff opposition from hundreds of applicants, Issy was successful in a very competitive national selection process and following several interviews Isabelle was advised today that she has been successful in her application.
Corporal Murfitt will be attending Derby Gliding Club this August for a week long solo gliding course leading to her becoming a qualified solo glider pilot.
Another of Ely’s Cadets Sergeant McNeil started her scholarship civilian glider pilot training last Saturday and will continue flying each Saturday as weather permits until she goes solo.
