The Friends of Ely St John’s School applied for one of the Good Vibes Local Great Little Giveaway grants on behalf of Ely St John’s School.
We were thrilled to hear that our application was successful and have used the money to purchase a listening station and headphones for the year 1 classes to use.
Sharing stories through listening helps children to learn sounds, words and language as well as developing literacy skills. It also encourages children to learn the value of stories and sparks their imagination. The headphones can help focus children’s attention and lead to less distractions, especially for children who find listening and attention more difficult.
Our year 1 teacher has said “the listening station will help support the development of listening and early language skills within the year 1 classroom.”
Our thanks to Good Vibes Local or this generous donation, which is already making a big difference to the children in our school.
