Happy 99th Birthday to the Duke of Edinburgh from 1094 Ely Squadron

Happy 99th Birthday to the Duke of Edinburgh.

So many Air Cadets and Adult Staff have benefitted from participating in The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

Here is a photo of The Duke speaking with our Officer in Charge Flying Officer J Donoghue RAFAC 36 years ago when 444 (Shoreditch) Squadron won The Sir Alan Lees Trophy for the best Squadron in The Corps.

In the first photo the Duke is asking the then Cadet Flight Sergeant Donoghue when he was going to get his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, the answer was later that year when he was also promoted to Cadet Warrant Officer.

A total of four Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire adult staff are in the second photo and all four went on to acheiving thier Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer.

Thank you Sir, and Happy Birthday from all at 1094 Squadron Ely Air Cadets.
