Following a number of reports of Hare coursing in the South East Cambs area, PCs Martin, Amos and Challis from Ely Station spotted this vehicle in the area accompanied by two people and a number of dogs.
Hare Coursing is an illegal practise in the UK. The activity involves a greyhound chasing a hare for sport and can be a defined as a cruel bloodsport. In countries like the Republic of Ireland where it is a legal sport, dogs must wear a mouth guard and only overtake the hare however as an illegal activity the hare is often killed when caught.
The people this morning have been reported for prosecution, the vehicle was seized for being used in crime and also for no insurance and the dogs are fine.
