The Helping Hands Gardening scheme, which is managed by VCAEC, have been awarded £3,148 per annum for 3 years as part of the Healthier Futures Fund from the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.
The project is called Dementia Friendly East Cambs which is a consortium with eleven other East Cambridgeshire agencies. The aim of our part of the project is twofold:
* To enable those living with Dementia to continue to live in their homes in the knowledge that their gardens are being cared for by local volunteers;
* To assist any volunteers who wish to help who are living with Dementia.
Angela Haylock, CEO of VCAEC said,
“We wanted to be part of this consortium as we felt it is important not only to work with other local agencies but to be able to help local residents living with Dementia.”
If anyone is interested in either becoming a volunteer gardener or would like more information about our gardening scheme please contact Adrian Houghton on 01353 666556 or email gardening@vcaec.org.uk
