A recent spate of vehicle crime in Ely City has underlined the need for people to check that they are locking their cars.
Over the previous two weeks seven vehicles have been entered, and property stolen.
Over night between 20th and 21st of July four vehicles were targeted in Cardinals Way, Gateway Gardens, and Broad Street.
Earlier in the month a really quite stunning Porsche 911 in silver was entered and belongings were stolen.
What did these offences have in common? – The vehicles were left insecure over night.
Sgt Phil Priestley has offered the following advice:
“Vehicle crime is important to all of us. None of us can afford to make it easy for thieves. It is disappointing to record crimes where vehicles – including high value vehicles with sophisticated anti-theft devices – have been left insecure. It’s easy to get complacent in a low crime area – but I would appeal to everyone to check that their cars are left locked over night.”
