Care and Repair Services assist elderly, disabled and vulnerable people in Fenland to organise building related works to their own homes that will allow them to remain living independently, safely, and comfortably.
Working as part of a small team, your duties as Caseworker will include visiting clients in their own homes to identify their housing needs and provide advice and practical assistance to achieve the best outcome for their particular circumstances.
You will provide advice and practical assistance on benefits and housing options; check eligibility for financial assistance and prepare applications to enable the client to access suitable grants or loans. In the event of building works, you will follow set procedures to arrange surveys, specifications, schedules of work and quotes and act as the advocate for the client, supporting them through the building process.
You will need to have 5 GCSEs, or equivalent, grade A-C, including English and have experience of working with the general public. Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are a must for this role. You will have a knowledge and understanding of the role of home improvement agencies and of disabled adaptations. You will also understand the issues and needs of older, disabled, and vulnerable individuals, providing empathy and confidentiality is essential. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
