17.5 hours per week, exact working days and times are flexible. Some evening and/or
weekend working will be required.
Salary £21,000 (FTE £42,000)
There exists an exciting opportunity for a Friends’ Officer at Ely Cathedral. The Friends are
an independent non-denominational charity and membership organisation (with about 2,000
members) which supports the work of Ely Cathedral. The Friends’ Officer is their only paid
staff member.
The role of the Friends’ Officer includes organising the day-to-day administration and
operation of the Friends’ Office as well as recruiting new Friends and organising a
programme of events together with the production and sale of literature and merchandise.
The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of, and sympathy with, the
mission and work of The Friends. They should also possess strong organisational skills as
well as being self-motivated, proactive, and an excellent communicator, able to motivate and
coordinate others. The ideal candidate should also be computer literate with working
knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
