The last opportunity to enjoy the traditional Big Band sound live is fast approaching, for this Saturday (12th February) at 7pm for 7.30 start is the evening of the first live music show by Ely Rotary Club with Opus 17 appearing after a 5-year break.
A selection of the nostalgic songs from Glenn Miller and the other big bands of the era are in the programme, with sing-alongs and dancing if you have the energy: Do you fancy “jitterbugging” to In the Mood? Or perhaps just sitting watching the younger members of the audience doing what you used to do?
To join in this unleashing of pent-up post-restriction joy, buy a couple of tickets, or make up a party to fill the large social-distancing tables, at £16 each, available from Burrows Newsagents, on the High Street Ely, or direct from elyrotary@ericgrant185.plus.com, pay by bank transfer and pick up your tickets at the door on the night. Just email your order, and the wheels will go into motion. Tickets will be available at the door, but it would be preferable to phone 01638 780827 for information at the last minute.
As always there will be our moderately-priced bar available for beers, wines and soft drinks, which will remain open all evening, so no rush at the interval!
The venue, Ely College Hall on Downham Road, Ely, has a large car park and easy access, post-code CB6 2SH for a sat-nav.
