Little Miracles Football vs Cricket

On June 8th 2016, Ely City Football Club’s first team players and management team will be taking on Wilburton Cricket Club. The difference being there won’t be a overhead kick, corner or goal line clearance in sight as it will be at cricket as opposed to football for the Ely City side, with the proceeds from the event going to support Little Miracles Cambridge, Ely & Newmarket.

Cricket-stumpsThe fundraiser is taking place at Wilburton CC’s home ground of The Piece, Wilburton, Cambridgeshire, CB6 3RN, with the match getting underway at 630pm. All being well a BBQ and raffle will be taking place on the evening also.
So if you like your cricket then support on the evening for the two teams would be hugely appreciated! We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Ely City FC and of course Wilburton CC for making this event happen and supporting the community in this way.
Ely City manager Brady Stone commented: ‘It is great to be able to do something a bit different with the players during the off season. A few of the lads play a bit of cricket but quite a few don’t so it could be interesting. The most important thing is being able to raise some money for an excellent local charity like Little Miracles. As a club it is something we want to do more of as it is important to be a part of the local community’.
Justin Heron, Operations Manager for Little Miracles CEN said; “It’s fantastic for such an event to be taking place and to see brilliant support like this again being shown in the community. It should be a fantastic evening all round and we would really like to thank Martin Grey and all the team at Ely City FC for getting us involved as well as the efforts from Wilburton CC. An excellent gesture from both clubs and we really hope a good amount of people can get down to the ground on the night.”
