It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at the Lantern Community Primary School.
The Ely primary is gearing up for its Christmas Fair next Saturday, which for the first time will be selling homemade mulled wine and fresh soup on top of its regular refreshments.
In addition, there will be sumptuous cakes for sale, baked by students at the school during a bake-off competition.
Students will also be running a range of activities and games, with entertainment provided by the Little Lantern Singers, a choir made up of younger children at the school.
Having just bought a lifesaving defibrillator for the school, its fundraising committee is now hoping to raise funds for a £8000 outdoor classroom and wildlife pod.
Friends of the Lantern School co-chair Jemma Angier said: “Please do come along to our Christmas Fair, have fun and support the school.
“It’s open to everybody, not just the school community, and there is something for everyone.”
The fete will boast a craft fair with dozens of stalls selling handmade goodies and quality gifts.
There will also be a raffle and tombola, face painting, gingerbread decorating, refreshments and real Christmas trees and wreaths for sale.
Only the Grinch could fail to get into the Christmas spirit!
The Lantern Christmas Fair will take place from 11am to 2pm at The Lantern School, Nene Road, Ely.
